Amateur-Built And Light-Sport Aircraft Inspection
EAA has been very successful in protecting the rights of amateur-built aircraft owners for 50 years. We have worked with the FAA to appoint Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs) and developed specific training for these volunteers who assist members. This program ensures and expands the availability of aircraft certification services, improves inspectors’ amateur-built aircraft knowledge and lowers the cost of certification for all builders. EAA makes sure DARs are available in the field by offering scholarships (more than $20,000 worth so far!) to those who are qualified. In addition, EAA members can receive an inspection by a DAR with fees waived, except for out of pocket expenses.
