Deadline Looms Monday For Public ADIZ Comments

February 3, 2006 — Monday, February 6, is the last day to submit comments to the FAA's controversial proposal to codify the Washington-Baltimore Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). More than 20,000 submissions are included on the DOT's Docket Management System website, overwhelmingly registering strong opposition to the permanent ADIZ. EAA's position is clear: Converting the current ADIZ into a permanently restricted area is a very bad idea and an even worse precedent. Security around our nation's capital is a necessity, but this proposal does nothing to enhance security while it eviscerates the general aviation infrastructure in that area. To register your comments, go to http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchFormSimple.cfm, then enter the docket number, "17005." Comments may also be faxed to 202-493-2251.
